Save the Birds!

FLAP  (Fatal Light Awareness Program) is an organization dedicated to spreading awareness about the number of senseless bird deaths as a result of lighted office buildings and reflective windows.

With the Pacific, Central, Atlantic, and Mississippi Flyways all within North America’s surrounding areas, an estimated 100 million to 1 billion migrating birds die annually as a result of collisions with buildings.

Since many species of birds migrate at night, obstructing migratory bird corridors by developing lighted office towers with reflective windows has inevitably lead to a drastic negative effects on bird migration.

As a response, FLAP developed collision prevention guidelines for buildings in urban areas and on migration routes. The non-profit organization also runs educational workshops, displays, and public awareness campaigns.
