The Canadian Museum of Nature will be featuring Green Hero Edward Burtynsky’s exhibition, Oil, from May 31 until September 2, 2013. Don’t miss your chance to see this spectacular exhibit, which will include over 50 of Edward’s large-scale colour photographs depicting humanity’s impact on the natural landscape. As a source of energy, oil has had an enormous impact on our modern world. The exhibit includes images of oil fields, refineries, vehicles, and motorways that show us a side of this energy source that we do not see when we heat our homes or drive our cars.
Edward’s unique photography was also showcased in a documentary film entitled Manufactured Landscapes and he was awarded the Order of Canada in 2006.
You can learn more about Edward and his work on our “The Art of Change” episode airing Tuesday July 2nd at 7:30pm and Sunday July 7th at 8:30pm on TVO. Edward will be in good company on this episode, with fellow artist Robert Bateman, Manufactured Landscapes Director and Writer Jennifer Baichwal and artist David Buckland discussing the importance of representing nature through their artwork and how this can help change the planet.
